Teacher Unions, GES Release New Negotiated Academic Calendar & Closing Date for All Basic Schools Across The Country

The three Teacher Unions with the highest numerical powers on the teaching field have officially released a new negotiated academic calendar for basic schools in the country.

Per the memo sighted by Honestynewsgh.com,  the negotiations was between the Teacher Unions and the Ghana Education Service.

Following the concerns raised by the Teacher Unions on the 2021/2022 Academic Calendar regarding the semester system, contact hours and the number of weeks (fort-three – 43) and subsequent to the negotiation between the Teacher Unions and Ghana Education Service.

PREVIOUS CONTACT HOURS

7:00am to 3:30pm or

7:30am to 4:00pm or

8:00am to 4:30pm

NEGOTIATED AND AGREED CONTACT HOURS WITH GES

i 7:00am to 2:00pm, or

ii. 7.30am to 2:30pm, or

iii.   8.00am to 3:00pm.

According to  the Unions the Academic Calendar has been restored to the Trimester System. Again the number of weeks has been reviewed from 43 weeks to 40 weeks.
