SAD || A body of a teacher recovered from Volta Lake
A very sad information coming from the Oti Region broadcasted by JoyNews has confirmed that rescuers from the region have retrieved bodies of a man and a woman who were believed to be among the victims who were drowned in the Volta lake.
It is always difficult when we lose someone, especially when that person is someone who had a profound impact on our lives.
The bodies have since been deposited at the Krachi West Municipal Hospital Morgue.
According to report gathered, the man whose body has been retrieved is a teacher on one of the islands and the woman, a native of the area.
The man who was an island teacher got drowned in the Volta lake on his way home from one school on an island called Agamkope.
An eyewitness of the incident who spoke to JoyNews revealed that, the two were returning from Kete Krachi, the municipal capital, to their island communities on
a fishing boat after the boat they were travelling on abandoned them on another island due to a storm.
“They said that they were passing through
Kotoku because they needed to alight one
passenger there. But because it was late at
night, they by-passed the community before they realised it.
“So they decided to go back and drop the passenger and in the process skipper lost control of the boat and it capsized,” he narrated.
His death serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and how important it is to cherish the people we love. He will always be remembered for the impact he made on the lives of his students and the legacy he left behind. He may be gone, but his memory will live on forever.
May his sour Rest in Peace.
