Nigerian Universities Asked to Close Down Ahead of General Elections

The Nigerian National University Commission (NUC) has ordered the management of the country’s universities to close down schools pending 25th February general election.

According to the National University Commission,  the Universities should be closed down from 22nd February to 14th March, 2023 when the election is over.

This new development has become very necessary following the concerns about safety and security of both staff and students during the poll.

Inside letter to vice-chancellors of all universities and directors of inter-university centres, NUC say the directive is a direct message from the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu.

This according to the House of Representatives of the Federal Government will also allow students to participate fully in the general elections.
