The management of the Ghana School Feeding Programme has officially reprobated media reports claiming that the Programme has been suspended by the government.
According to the National Cordinator, Mrs Gertrude Quashigah, the reports by Adom Fm and adomonline should be treated as false and highly misleading to cause fear among beneficiaries ( pupils, caterers and parents) under the Programme.
“Government has not put the Programme on hold. The president is committed to the implementation and expansion due to its significant impact on the development of Education at the basic level.
This comes after the media report enamating from a question posed to the caretaker, Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Cecilia Abena Dapaah on the floor of Parliament to know when the Programme will be expanded to some schools.
In her response, the Minister revealed that, currently the expansion of the programme is on hold.
” We are clearing all the arrears of the caterers and putting in place measures to ensure effective and efficient service delivery to all beneficiaries as well as caterers”
“We are putting in place a management information system to enhance efficiency effectiveness of the system”
“We shall inform the house when we are ready to expand the programme to cover the additional schools”, she stated.
According to Mrs Quashigah, the reporter decided to twist the facts and reported that the entire School Feedibg Programme is on hold.
