August COLA for Public Sector Workers Paid
Information gathered by Honestynewsgh.com from a bona fide source has revealed that the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) for public sector workers has been paid for the month of August.
The 15% Cost of Living Allowance for all public sector workers was an agreed deal signed by the government, as represented by the Ministry of Employment and Labour Relations and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission.
Pertaining to the initial agreement, the payment of Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) should have started in July, but the govermment failed to honour its initial agreement due to the current economic instability in the country.
However, the source has revealed to Honestynewgh that this month Cost of Living Allowance will not include the July arrears.
Again, the office of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) through a Short Message Service (SMS) has informed its members that the Cost of Living Allowance will be paid this month ending, August 2022.
“UNION ALERT! Comrades, you are hereby informed that COLA will be paid effective August 2022”, the SMS message indicated.
Thomas Musah, the GNAT secretary added that it will be left with five months of outstanding payments to be made.
“Dear Comrades, please after the August COLA payment, we shall be left with five (5) months outstanding including July 2022”, he added.
