JUST IN: Online ICT training for all public teachers suspended – GES
The management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform all public teachers in the country that the online ICT training in connection with the One Teacher One Laptop initiative scheduled for 16th February, 2022 has been put on hold.
According to the management, it will have further deliberations and discussions with KA Technologies and Microsoft to come out with a new date and timeline for the exercise.
Background
Earlier this week, the Ghana Education Service GES in collaboration with KA Technologies issued a statement that seek to invite all teachers to undergo some basic ICT Training to help them use the various e-learning resources that have been made available on the laptops.
Following the directive of the GES, a teacher union, All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) was unhappy with the decision to organize basic ICT training for teachers online.
ATAG found the invitation to be preposterous and uncalled for as their employer is bent to subject teachers to ridicule, labour rape and unsubstantiated actions. The union has also asked its members to boycott the exercise since that was not the original plan agreed upon by GES and the Teacher Unions.
