JHS Textbooks For The Newly Introduced Common Core Programme To Be Ready For Distribution Next Year- Edu.Minister
The Minister of Education, Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum following the completion of the Common Core Programme workshop has revealed that textbooks for the newly introduced programme will be made ready for distribution next year.
Speaking on the “Talking Point show” on GTV, the Minister noted that unlike the challenges Kindergarten, Primary school learners and teachers are facing concerning the Ministry’s delay in distributing the government textbooks to complement the Standard-Based Curriculum, Junior High Schools textbooks will be available next year.
“Price negotiation for printing of government textbooks for basic schools (KG & Primary) is underway and in the next few weeks, the printing and distribution of the books will be ready. In the same way, the time learners in form one move to the next stage, textbooks would be readily available to be used”, he added.

The Minority in Parliament has expressed their displeasure in the Newly Introduced Semester System Of the 2022 academic calendar for public pre-tertiary schools in the country and has called for immediate withdrawal.
According to the Minority, though it understands the adverse effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Education sector which brought the loss of almost one academic year, the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service are professionally getting it wrong in fixing the academic calendar for the basic schools.
In a statement, signed by the Ranking Member, Peter Kotoe sighted by Honestynewsgh communicates that the policy lacks academic touch.
“As a Minority, we fully support the Teacher Unions in whatever democratic means they will take to stop this semester system from being imposed on them”, portion of the statement said.
“It is interesting to note that a technical committee was set up by the Minister of Education under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Minister instead of the professionals; the Director-General himself or any of his two deputies. This committee was to propose the calendar for the approval of the Minister. This is one reason why the release of dates for the academic calendar was delayed. CONTINUE………
