According to a statement from the Ministry of Education, this change shows the government’s strong commitment to improving access to quality teacher education, which is an important part of the country’s education system.

The statement also mentioned that after a careful review, Savannah College of Education has met all the necessary requirements to change from a private institution to a fully accredited public College of Education.

As a result, the college will now be governed and funded by the public tertiary education system. This change will allow the school to receive more government support and resources. It is expected to have a big impact on teacher education across the country.

The Ministry of Education thanked the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), local leaders, and the management of Savannah College of Education for their help in making this transition happen smoothly.

This change is a key part of Ghana’s ongoing efforts to improve education and build a skilled workforce of teachers to help the country grow.

The Ministry also encouraged students, teachers, and all involved parties to welcome this change. They emphasized that everyone’s support will help make Savannah College of Education a leading institution in teacher education.

However, it is important to note that this change is still subject to approval by the new GTEC Governing Board, which will oversee the full process.
